Content
Reporter genes have been used for several decades to study regulation of gene expression in vivo. However, it was little more than a decade ago that a new class of reporter genes was developed for imaging molecular events within living subjects. By following the interactions of protein molecules, researchers can resolve the complex chemical pathways that living cells utilise. This book focuses on this group of imaging reporter genes, starting with detailed descriptions of all reporter genes from different imaging modalities, including optical, MRI, and radionuclide-based imaging. Key scientists in the field explain how to enhance reporter gene imaging utility through instrumentation and the various applications of this technology. This is the first comprehensive book on all aspects of reporter gene imaging, detailing what is known in the field and future goals for research. Investigators in biomedical sciences, physicians, and the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries will benefit from topics covered. Features • Covers all topics in reporter gene imaging for reference and textbook use • Discusses future directions at end of each chapter • Compares reporter genes and other technologies for each application Table of Contents Part I. Types of Imaging Reporter Genes: 1. Fluorescent proteins reporter Robert E. Campbell and Michael W. Davidson 2. Revealing biomolecular mechanisms through in vivo bioluminescence imaging Timothy C. Doyle, Qian Wang, and Christopher H. Contag 3. Reporter gene imaging with PET/SPECT June-Key Chung, Joo Hyun Kang, and Keon Wook Kang 4. Non-invasive imaging genes and gene expression with magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance spectroscopy James Basilion Part II. Enhancing Reporter Gene Imaging Techniques: 5. Multimodality imaging reporter gene Pritha Ray and Sanjiv Sam Gambhir 6. Cell-specific imaging of reporter gene expression using a two-step transcriptional amplification strategy Marxa L. Figueirdo, Sanjiv Sam Gambhir, Michael Carey, and Lily Wu Part III. Imaging Instrumentations: 7. Physics, instrumentation, and methods for imaging reporter gene expression in living subjects Craig S. Levin Part IV. Current Applications of Imaging Reporter Genes: 8. Reporter gene imaging of cell signal transduction Tarik F. Massoud, Ramasamy Paulmurugan, Carmel Chan, Hua Fan-Minogue, and Sanjiv Sam Gambhir 9. Gene therapy and imaging of transgene expression in living subjects Shahrihar S. Yaghoubi and Sanjiv Sam Gambhir 10. Imaging regulation of endogenous gene expression in living subjects Vladimir Ponomarev 11. Imaging cell trafficking and immune cell activation using PET reporter genes Evan D. Nair-Gill, Chengyi J. Shu, Isabel J. Hildebrandt, Dean O. Campbell, Owen N. Witte, and Caius G. Radu 12. Imaging reporter genes and stem cells Martin G. Rodriguez-Porcel 13. Clinical applications of reporter gene technology Ivan Penuelas, Shahriar S. Yaghoubi, Felipe Prosper, and Sanjiv Sam Gambhir.

Book condition
An important factor of a second-hand book is the condition of the book. The buyer may not be surprised. Always mention damages or defects. We use a system with 3 stars:
The book is acceptable: you have used it to study and made notes and markings – but everything is still readable. The cover and pages are in good condition.
The book still looks good: there are a few notes in it and you marked it. There are hardly any signs of use on the cover and pages.
The book is (almost) new: you have not written or marked in it. There are no signs of use on the cover and pages.
