Adopting a multidisciplinary approach with input from physicists, researchers and medical professionals, this is the first book to introduce many different technical approaches for the visualization of microcirculation, including laser Doppler and laser speckle, optical coherence tomography and photo-acoustic tomography. It covers everything from basic research to medical applications, providing the technical details while also outlining the respective strengths and weaknesses of each imaging technique. Edited by an international team of top experts, this is the ultimate handbook for every clinician and researcher relying on microcirculation imaging. CONTENTS Clinical Need and Historical Perspective (Terence Ryan and Martin J. Leahy) Sidestream Dark-Field (SDF) Video Microscopy for Clinical Imaging of the Microcirculation (Dan M.J. Milstein, Rick Bezemer, and Can Ince) Clinical Applications of SDF Videomicroscopy (Daniel De Backer and Jean-Louis Vincent) Laser Doppler flowmetry (Ingemar Fredriksson, Marcus Larsson, and Tomas Strömberg) Towards Assessment of Speed distribution of Red Blood Cells in Microcirculation (Adam Liebert, Stanislaw Wojtkiewicz, and Roman Maniewski) Fast Full-field laser Doppler perfusion imaging (Wiendelt Steenbergen) Speckle Effects in Laser Doppler Perfusion Imaging (Wiendelt Steenbergen) Laser Speckle Contrast Analysis (LASCA) for Measuring Blood Flow (David Briers, Paul M. McNamara, Marie Louise O'Connell, and Martin J. Leahy) Tissue Viability Imaging (Jim O'Doherty, Martin J. Leahy, and Gert E. Nilsson) Optical Microangiography: Theory and Application (Ruikang K. Wang and Hrebesh M. Subhash) Photoacoustic Tomography of Microcirculation (Song Hu and Lihong V. Wang) Fluorescence and OCT Imaging of Microcirculation in Early Mammalian Embryos (Irina V. Larina, Mary E. Dickinson, and Kirill V. Larin) High Frequency Ultrasound Imaging (F. Stuart Foster) Studying Microcirculation with Micro-CT (Timothy L. Kline and Erik L. Ritman) Imaging blood circulation using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (Christian M. Kerskens) Prof. Martin Leahy completed a DPhil at the University of Oxford and he was the founding Director of R&D at Oxford Optronix Ltd. From 1995 he had various research and teaching posts at the University of Oxford. He has secured more than ?6M in external R&D funding since 2003. He is an adjunct professor at the Royal College of Surgeons, Fellow of the Institute of Physics, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland and Fellow of SPIE. He is a co-chair, executive organizing committee member and panel moderator for SPIE Photonics West BiOS in San Francisco, host of the BioPIC European Bioimaging conference and Editorial Board member of the Journal of Biomedical Optics. Prof. Leahy was founding MD of Limerick West Windfarms Ltd. and Millstream Energy and PI on the research projects that spun out Biomass Heating Solutions Ltd. and Wheelsbridge AB. Since his return to full-time academia, he has played a leading role in graduate biophotonics education through NBIP, UL, NUI Galway and the Biophotonics and Imaging Graduate Summer School. In 2010 he delivered a dozen international invited lectures and published more than a dozen ISI journal articles. Martin Leahy was appointed Chair of Applied Physics at NUI Galway in April 2011.

Book condition
An important factor of a second-hand book is the condition of the book. The buyer may not be surprised. Always mention damages or defects. We use a system with 3 stars:
The book is acceptable: you have used it to study and made notes and markings – but everything is still readable. The cover and pages are in good condition.
The book still looks good: there are a few notes in it and you marked it. There are hardly any signs of use on the cover and pages
The book is (almost) new: you have not written or marked in it. There are no signs of use on the cover and pages
